My name is Reina Remigio (she/ze), and I am second-generation Filipino-American, identify as non-binary in my gender, and femme in my gender expression.
Over the last 17 years in mental health, I have had the honor and privilege of working together with patients challenged with diverse and complex issues to improve their psychological health and overall quality of life. I enjoyed doing this work in a variety of settings that served patients struggling with trauma, substance use disorders, and other mental health issues, from intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), primary care integrated behavioral health, inpatient, forensic, residential, skilled care, and community mental health settings. I had the added privilege of providing supervision and training to clinicians and staff in those settings.
Recently, I served for 3+ years as Clinical Director of an integrated mental health IOP/PHP center in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, where I oversaw and supported clinical care, a highly skilled team of clinicians, program development, and outcome measures to ensure gold standard whole-person care that is attuned to each patient's needs and goals.
Throughout my career, I have had a specialized interest in helping people struggling with issues related to overcontrolled coping. Most recently, I shifted into private practice to focus on this work, and I am passionate about empowering individuals, couples, and families to make meaningful values-oriented changes that allow for and support greater authenticity and connection.
